Punjab Kings (PBKS) continued their strong start to TATA IPL 2026, registering a five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a high-scoring contest at the M. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

After winning the toss, PBKS opted to bowl but were made to toil early as CSK recovered well from an early setback. Sanju Samson fell cheaply for 7, but skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and the 18-year-old Ayush Mhatre steadied the innings with an impressive partnership. The duo added 96 runs off just 55 balls, shifting momentum firmly in CSKโ€™s favour.

Mhatre was the aggressor in the stand, showcasing maturity beyond his years with a fluent stroke-filled innings. He raced to 67 off 38 balls during the partnership, while Gaikwad played a supporting role.
